So this album came to my attention a good 6 years ago now I would say. I remember when I was 14 and going to shows I met this girl and this guy who were a couple, I think they guy was about 3 years older than me and she was about one maybe? I can't even really remember. Anyway, I really wanted to be in a band at this point and these guys wanted to start one up, and they cited Braid as their main influence. I didn't have a fucking clue who they were so they gave me a CD, and I wont lie, when I first heard it I thought it was the gayest shit ever, I just wanted to listen to Canaan and didn't have time to be a pussy. I dug it out about 2 years later or so and realised it's a brilliant record, 2 years too late really. But yeah, there's the story behind that. Really awesome mid 90's emo, get on it.

Recently, my mind has been wondering into pretty weird places music wise. The most recent thing that I've really, really got into is 60's french pop, specifically female French singers. It started by finding an album by France Gall called Baby Pop, it's absolutely perfect. The appeal to me is definitely the way the French accent sounds, it's very infectious. I'm going to shut up pretending to know what I'm talking about and put a link up to a record by Francoise Hardy called "The Yeh-Yeh Girl From Paris".

The only reason I'm really updating this is because I should be adapting a short story into a script but I really do not want to do it. So it goes...

In a few days time I'm going to Prague which I am incredibly excited about, it's the first time I've ever been on a proper holiday, I never really went places with my family or otherwise. So this is going to be pretty special in that respect. Expect photographs of a million things you wont be interested in to surface on here.

I came across this video via a post from a friend the other day. I find it an incredible piece of documentary film making, well paced, emotional and beautifully shot. If I had a spare 3 million I'd snap up his collection in a shot.

Two days ago I decided after completing half of an essay that I had had enough and I wanted to get out of my house. I had toyed with the idea of going to see Om and Sunn O))) for a good few months, but never really finalized my plan. My God, I am so, so fucking glad that I did. I have genuinely never witnessed anything like it in my entire life. It was so loud that I thought my voice box was going to explode. The whole audience was in a trance like state, it's something that I truly cannot describe to you, you'll have to go see them yourself, which I absolutely URGE you to do.

I'm pretty miffed as to why i haven't made a Bruce Springsteen post yet, I would of thought it'd be something I'd of done a long time ago, apparently not. Back in July I was lucky enough to go see Springsteen in Hyde Park, managed to get tickets at the box office on the day, even with it being sold out for a few months before the date itself. I was abso-fucking-lutlely blown away on so many levels. weeks before his 60th birthday he had more stamina than a lot of punk/hardcore bands that I have seen, easily one of the best live shows I have been lucky enough. E Street band played flawlessly, I can't fault it in the way. I drank far too much cider and on the way home ate 2 double cheeseburgers, nearly killed myself trying to hop a bush and took a piss on Bond Street. I fucking hate cider, but there was no other choice but to drink it.

Basically, the point of this post is to say that Springsteen is fucking incredible, he writes perfect songs with great lyrics. A lot of bands that you may not even thing do owe a lot to this man. I implore you to please give him a try, if you haven't already.

So I haven't updated this in a very long time due to moving into my new place. We get it set up on Saturday I think so I'll be on this a lot better in the future. All I have to post at the moment is this...

The prospect of this is scaring me so much, Sex Dungeon playing with INSECT WARFARE. I'd post an album or split or something up but currently I am sat in Rough Trade and don't have the patience, I have a massive headache.

Played in Hull yesterday to about 0 people, but we got given a lot of free booze and a floor to sleep on so we were cool. We listened to the whole of Dopesmoker on the way up there, a cosmic journey was had. Today I feel like human mess.

So I've finally moved out of my old flat on Bethnal Green Road, as much as at the beginning we all loved it, I hate the place now. It's like living on the sun inside an oven thats being fucked by a volcano. Now I find myself in Kent for just under 3 weeks with no money and nothing to do, I can't imagine this being very excited. I can't even move in my tiny room here due to my clutter being absolutely everywhere, it's going to be odd sleeping in a single bed for a long period of time also. However, I had waiting for me when i arrived home the Travis Millard print that I have mentioned before, and it's much more impressive in real life. Anyway, music I guess...

This weekend has been my favourite weekend for a very long time, Laura came and visited me away from the valleys and castles and wizards and shit and stayed from Friday until Monday, needless to say that was absolutely awesome, what a good human being. Back in Kent for a few days. Worst hangover of my entire life. Last night I got home and I could not work out how to use my keys, so I settled down to sleep outside my door in the communal bit of my flat, then mother lets me in, calls me a twat then sends me to bed. I had to wake up at 7.30 this morning and go work for my grandmother, I was definitely still drunk. Even my hair gets hungover.

So the first initial thing I purchased for the flat has come through, my Super Nintendo, most importantly though, it came with this game...

Really excited about getting this set up/getting more games, I'm going to beat the shit out of everyone.

Last night restored my faith in everything awesome. We went to the Fucked Up warehouse party, ad they only played 2 of their own songs, the rest were covers, including Cro-Mags and Pennywise, awesome-o. Mob Rules were easily the best band though, they were fucking incredible, if you haven't checked them out I fucking urge you to, honestly. I was being very cheeky yesterday, I apologise for anyone I was around, I drank a little bit. Sex Dungeon practiced today, we are getting a lot tighter and I remember ALL the songs now, which is a plus right?

The other day I purchased this, I got over excited and thought spending money was a good idea...

In other news I have been on a mad detox, a load of green tea and salad, I feel like a girl. Today I purchased a green tea in a bottle that had a hint of honey, it tasted like what I'd imagine a plants urine to smell like if a plant urinated. Also, those crisps with all those ridiculous flavours fucking suck too, I have had a terrible food and drink day.

I have only just become aware of Purple Drank, it's been around for a few years and it sends "niggas flying", it's pretty big in the states with the southern rap movement etc. Apparently Lil Wayne has become addicted to it, so thats pretty cool I guess.

'In addition to its popularization in the music of DJ Screw and Three 6 Mafia, the mixture has been referenced in lyrics of other rappers. It is the subject of UGK's "Sippin and Spinnin" and "Purple Drank", as well as tracks by Big Moe, Paul Wall, Mike Jones, T.I., Lil' Flip, Lil' Wayne, Fat Joe, Three Six Mafia, Beanie Sigel, Project Pat, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Fat Pat, Frayser Boy, Z-Ro, Kanye West, Youngbloodz and Trae.

Last night I went to my student union bar to watch Obama being sworn in. I was lucky enough to see this band a couple of months back with Barr, it was like an acid trip. They managed to lull everyone into this weird state and helped initiate a hand holding circle, and the weird thing is you didn't even feel remotely awkward about it. Hippies of the world unite. This blog is going to be fairly boring at present due to the fact I'm at home and there's no real activity here, so I guess I'll just run with what I've got at the moment. I'll be buying a crappy disposable camera soon so I can post some things up here. That will hopefully become a more regular thing too. Tonight is thursday which means the only good night in Canterbury, so I'm pretty much on that one.

Seeing as I haven't got anything to say as such I'm going to telly ou the mouse story.

Basically, when I first moved into my flat in London we suspected that we had a mouse in the kitchen, we used to hear scratching from within the cabinets and stuff but we never actually found it. At night though you could hear it running around the kitchen and because the lights were on the other side you had to run the risk of stepping on it, it was fucking terrifying trying to get water or use the toilet.

Anyway after a while the scratching stopped and we thought it must of jibbed us for a better place with more food or floors, so we completely forgot about it. Life got a bit calmer. But one night I was laying in bed reading a book when I hear this scratching under my bed, and I completely ruined my sheets, so terrified. After a while of screaming like a little bitch I maintained composure, and decided to pull out my bed, as I did he darted across the other side of the room. Once again I screamed, but after a while of this happen I got used to it and I just got fucking angry. I was ready to end it, so I put my shoes on and grabbed a broom. So there I was, standing in the middle of my room in my boxers, some shoes brandishing a broom. After about 2 hours of chasing this dickneck all of my furniture was pushed into the middle of my room away from the walls. He jumped into my draws and I was right behind him, I was ready to make him meet his maker. I opened it and with a war cry I bludgeoned it about 20 times, whilst screaming. After this he was definitely dead, so i picked it up with a bag and threw it out my window, we haven't had any mice since.

I'm currently getting royally fucked over by the flu or something like everyone else in the world, but I'm ignoring it because it's a piece of shit and I'm better than that.

I also just listened to The Deep Blue again for the first time in a while. I've seen them a few times now and it is nothing short of epic, one time was in the middle of a field in the pouring rain in the middle of nowhere.

I'm not sure what they are doing at the moment, but they just did a tour in sweden, so I'd imagine they will be doing stuff around the UK soon. You can get Antarctic Abyss from their myspace page. Bless.

I woke up today thinking it was about 7 in the morning and I was pissed off, but then I looked at my phone and it was 12.30, so I couldn't really go back to sleep, even more pissed off.

So today we recorded and it was pretty cool, turned out I was playing with my bass tuned down a whole step for a while though, its sounded mad dark though. Also my fingers have blisters and cuts, I shred clearly. But yeah, all songs re recorded including new one, the split tape will be bananas.

I'm on a train at present with a bunch of city worker fuckheads who I hate. They talk really loud, don't move out of your way, smell like shitty aftershave and are just fucking germs. I hope they all get home really safe so their rent boys can give them a nice reach around. I listened to Infest pretty much the whole way and just imagined them all hanging from the rails by their ties.

So now I'm back home and I'm basically being looked after again, it's sick. It doesn't smell like absolute doom either which is a plus. I'm pretty bummed I didn't get to say goodbye to people properly in some cases, but I kind of left very spur of the moment. Roll on the new year.

The best thing I've heard in a long time is that Beirut are playing ATP in May, like, I can't even grasp how amazing this is. 2009 is making 2008 look like an absolute pussy already.

I'm in a bit of a weird place about a few things at the moment, but I'm not making this a shitty little sob story blog so whatever. Look at how good this is instead.

So today is the first time I've been back in the flat this weekend, it's smells like shit because of the cat (who I now officially despise) and there is no food, nothing to do and its not too cool. I, and I think everyone else had a real good time last night for Ben's birthday, highlight for me being ripping the arm off an inflatable santa and wearing it as my own. I think there was some sort of drama, but I can't remember what or why, so it goes...

Sex Dungeon are re-recording tomorrow this time including bass (myself), and we have a new song that we'll be recording too, it's good. All the recordings we do will be on a split tape with No Dice which will be done and out by the end of January I reckon, pretty great. All I want to do at the moment is play more shows, anywhere.

Right now I'm listening to the whole of Sleep's Dopesmoker, epic. I really cannot wait until ATP, I am ready to expand my mind.

Home soon, hopefully it'll be good/bearable.
